Avengers: Doomsday is already making waves with its ticket presales before reaching theaters. Disney revealed the Marvel film has crossed $50 million in domestic presales with more than three months remaining before its theatrical release. The early demand has prompted some fans to predict that the film could eventually reach $3 billion worldwide.
The Hollywood Reporter journalist Borys Kit brought attention to the milestone in a post on X. The update comes well ahead of the film’s December 18, 2026 theatrical release. The extended presales window gives fans more time to purchase tickets before the film’s release.
The news has already sparked fans’ bold reactions on X. @oyemnassxo joked that the movie could make “3 doomsillion” instead of $3 billion. Another fan, @MTLVUX, wrote, “They’re definitely making $3B globally by the time the movie wraps up its box office run.” @theEbenShow even claimed the film could reach that figure during its first week.
However, those numbers are currently fan predictions rather than official projections. Presales can indicate strong interest before release, but they cannot determine a movie’s final worldwide gross. Audience response, competition, and performance in international markets could all affect its final gross.
If Avengers: Doomsday does reach $3 billion, it would join an extremely exclusive group of films. Avengers: Endgame made approximately $2.799 billion worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films ever. The film could also benefit from bringing together characters from across the MCU, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men.
Avengers: Doomsday cast update: What we know so far
Robert Downey Jr. stars as Doctor Doom, marking his return to the MCU after playing Tony Stark/Iron Man. The cast also includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova.
The Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are also part of the ensemble. Several original X-Men actors are returning, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, and Alan Cumming. Channing Tatum is also reprising his role as Gambit.
With its large ensemble and strong early presales, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of 2026’s major theatrical releases. Whether this early momentum can take the film to $3 billion is still unclear.
