Harlan Coben‘s books all run on the same delicious fuel. There are buried secrets, ordinary people pushed into extraordinary danger, and pasts that refuse to stay dead. These stories begin with a loved one vanishing or an old tragedy resurfacing, and every answer to these mysteries leads to a bigger question.
It’s a formula built for binge-watching, and Netflix knows it. According to THR, the streamer signed a five-year deal with Coben in 2018 covering 14 of his novels. The deal was then extended in 2022 to add even more titles, including his beloved Myron Bolitar series (via Variety). With I Will Find You now taking the number one spot on Netflix, there are 13 Coben mysteries on Netflix. Here are all of them, ranked from worst to best.
13. Hold Tight (2022)

Hold Tight is the weakest Harlan Coben adaptation on Netflix. It is also the second Polish adaptation of a Coben novel, sharing some connection with the first, The Woods. However, even this connection with the earlier successful miniseries doesn’t help its case.
Set in a wealthy Warsaw suburb, it follows teenager Adam, who disappears shortly after his friend Igor dies. His desperate mother, Anna, tears the neighborhood apart in search of him and uncovers the dirty secrets hiding in every polished household. The pacing drags, the characters are hard to root for, and the payoff isn’t worth the time invested.
12. Gone for Good (2021)

While Harlan Coben’s novel takes place in New Jersey, this French adaptation on Netflix takes us to the sunny Riviera, offering the best visuals for a Coben mystery. However, it might be the only thing to look forward to in this series. In Gone for Good, Guillaume’s life was shattered in 2010 when he lost both his girlfriend and his older brother on the same terrible night.
A decade later, he proposes to his girlfriend Judith, and she vanishes the very next day. His search for her drags all those old ghosts back into the light. The five-episode format keeps things brisk. But flat characters and a story that never quite catches fire make it a disgrace to the Coben name.
11. Missing You (2025)

The mystery begins intriguingly. Detective Kat Donovan has spent 11 years wondering why her fiancé Josh walked out of her life without a word. Then, while idly swiping through a dating app, she sees his face. She starts investigating the matter, and it also drags up the unsolved murder of her father.
The good? Rosalind Eleazar is terrific in the lead, and the show is easy to binge. However, the problem is familiarity. If you’ve watched a few good Coben shows, you’ll spot the twists coming from a mile away. The plot quickly wears thin.
10. Caught (2025)

Harlan Coben’s Caught gets a Latin American adaptation, taking the action to Bariloche, Argentina. Soledad Villamil’s Ema Garay is an investigative journalist famous for exposing criminals the law can’t touch. Her latest case, the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, takes a personal turn when the prime suspect turns out to be Leo Mercer, a social worker she has grown close to.
Everyone believes Leo is guilty. Ema might be the only one who doesn’t. While the visuals are stunning and the setting is moodier than usual Coben fare, the show suffers from thinly written leads.
9. Fool Me Once (2024)

Fool Me Once became a monster hit for Netflix, and it’s easy to see why. Michelle Keegan plays Maya Stern, a former military pilot who has buried both her sister and her husband Joe within a year. Then she checks her nanny cam and sees Joe, very much alive, playing with their daughter.
What follows is possibly the most twist-stuffed Coben show of them all. Sadly, this is both its charm and its biggest curse. Your logical mind is likely to get tired quickly. However, if you switch your brain off, then it’s wildly entertaining. Keegan holds it together with a fierce, committed performance.
8. Safe (2018)

Safe, starring Michael C. Hall, was the first Harlan Coben mystery on Netflix. However, this wasn’t a novel-to-show adaptation like the others in the list. Coben created the story directly for television. It’s a solid, well-acted mystery whose success convinced Netflix to sign the author long-term.
Hall plays Tom Delaney, a pediatric surgeon and widower still reeling a year after his wife’s death. When his teenage daughter Jenny and her boyfriend go missing after a party, Tom starts digging and discovers his quiet gated community is packed with liars.
7. Run Away (2026)

After a few supporting roles, James Nesbitt gets his meatiest Coben role yet as Simon Greene in Run Away. He plays a father whose seemingly perfect life collapses when his eldest daughter Paige runs away. Things get much worse when the last person seen with her turns up dead. Simon’s hunt drags him into a grim underworld of crime and cult-like manipulation.
Nesbitt plays him like a man permanently one insult away from exploding. With Minnie Driver, Ruth Jones, and Alfred Enoch rounding out a strong cast, the show delivers brutal twists and killer cliffhangers. It’s hugely entertaining in the moment, but fades away quickly afterwards. Callie Hanna of FW wasn’t happy, calling it an “outright boring way to start the New Year,” in our review of Run Away.
6. Just One Look (2025)

The third Polish Coben series is a significant upgrade from Hold Tight. Greta is a happily married jewelry designer in Warsaw whose world tilts when she develops a roll of photos and finds an old group picture featuring her husband Jacek alongside strangers she’s never seen. When she asks him about it, he disappears.
When she further investigates, she is forced to question her own memory, her marriage, and everything she thought she knew about the man she loves. Some found the ending underwhelming, but the hook is certainly pure Coben. Maria Dębska’s grounded performance also makes it compelling.
5. I Will Find You (2026)
The newest arrival in the Harlan Coben series is the first to be set in the United States. Sam Worthington plays David Burroughs, a father serving a life sentence for murdering his three-year-old son, a crime he swears he didn’t commit. Five years in, his ex-sister-in-law Rachel (a superb performance from Britt Lower) visits with a photograph suggesting the boy may still be alive.
That’s all David needs to break out of prison and go hunting for the truth. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare turned into a breathless chase thriller, with Worthington delivering one of the franchise’s best performances. While critics had their issues with the show, fans seem to be loving it, with the show maintaining the number one spot for weeks now.
4. The Woods (2020)
The first Polish adaptation remains a standout thanks to its clever two-timeline structure. In 1994, counselor Paweł attends a summer camp where two teens are murdered and two more vanish, including his sister Kamila. In 2019, Paweł is a widowed Warsaw prosecutor who gets called to identify a body found surrounded by newspaper clippings about him.
The case cracks open the possibility that Kamila survived all along. Moody, atmospheric, and genuinely unpredictable, The Woods keeps changing direction just when you think you’ve solved it. A few threads are left dangling, but the overall journey is gripping.
3. Stay Close (2021)
Stay Close portrays Coben’s ensemble formula the best. The story switches between three strangers: a photographer haunted by an image he captured in the woods, a suburban mother about to finally marry her longtime partner, and a detective obsessed with a cold case.
They are slowly revealed to be tied to the same disappearance, which happened exactly 17 years after another man went missing. Richard Armitage, Cush Jumbo, and James Nesbitt all bring their A-game. Tightly plotted and brilliantly acted, it’s one of the most binge-worthy things Coben and Netflix have made.
2. The Stranger (2020)
The premise alone is irresistible. A mysterious young woman in a baseball cap, played by Marvel star Hannah John-Kamen, walks up to strangers and ruins their lives with a single secret. Her first victim is Adam Price, played by Richard Armitage, who is told his wife Corinne may have faked a pregnancy. When Adam confronts Corinne, she vanishes.
Meanwhile, the Stranger keeps whispering devastating truths around town, and every revelation connects to the last. The plot gets far-fetched, but that’s part of the fun. The Stranger is gripping from its opening scene, throws in brutal cliffhangers, and is peak Coben-on-Netflix entertainment.
1. The Innocent (2021)
This Spanish limited series is the crown jewel of the whole partnership. Mario Casas plays Mateo Vidal, a young man who accidentally kills someone in a nightclub brawl and pays for it with years in prison. Out and rebuilding his life with his wife Olivia, Mateo is finally happy. But a strange phone call yanks him back into a nightmare.
Aura Garrido’s Detective Ortiz, carrying tragedies of her own, gets pulled into the same web. This mystery is more layered than the rest on this list. It is relentlessly paced, packed with twists, and boasts a perfect critics’ score. The Innocent is Coben’s storytelling at its absolute best.
