If reports are to be believed, the revealed runtime of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to make it the longest big-screen adaptation of Marvel’s first family. Helmed by Matt Shakman, the project will serve as Mister Fantastic and his family’s MCU debut. The upcoming flick would see Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm take on the planet-conquering Galactus in the backdrop of the 1960s. From the looks of it, Shakman has taken considerable time to convey the story, with the film seemingly on track to become one of the lengthiest MCU entries to date.
First Steps’ rumored runtime makes it the longest Fantastic Four movie ever
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes. Albeit, Marvel Studios has not yet officially confirmed the same.
If the runtime listed on Odeon Cinemas’ official site is true, this would make Matt Shakman’s directorial venture the longest Fantastic Four of all time. Earlier, the two Fantastic Four movies released by 20th Century Fox went on for 106 minutes and 92 minutes, respectively. Meanwhile, the Josh Trank-directed reboot in 2015 had a runtime of 100 minutes.
Additionally, The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ runtime of 140 minutes would also rank it in tenth place in the list of the lengthiest MCU projects ever. At the time of writing, the top nine longest MCU movies are as follows:
Avengers: Age of Ultron – 2 hours and 21 minutes
The Avengers – 2 hours and 23 minutes
Captain America: Civil War – 2 hours and 27 minutes
Spider-Man: No Way Home – 2 hours and 28 minutes
Avengers: Infinity War – 2 hours and 29 minutes
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – 2 hours and 29 minutes

Additionally, as per Odeon Cinemas, MCU’s upcoming Thunderbolts* also has a reported runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes. Nonetheless, Marvel Studios has yet to share any word on the runtime of both projects. While the Jake Schreier-helmed movie will hit theatres on May 2, 2025, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is on track to premiere on July 25, 2025.
