There’s no doubt that Battlefield 2042 is borderline unrecognizable from the disastrous state that it launched three years ago. Despite their issues, DICE has kept up with the game’s planned post-launch support. Currently, the game is in the middle of its Season 7 update. However, next week, players will be able to take a break from that update with a special event.
The Battlefield team has released a new trailer for a Dead Space crossover coming to Battlefield 2042, dubbed “Outbreak.” While many are excited about the crossover, few gamers hope that EA will finally do justice to Dead Space 2 as well and bring the much-awaited remake.

While it’s confirmed that Battlefield 2042 won’t be getting any new seasons from DICE, that doesn’t mean support for it has ceased!

As posted on the official Battlefield X/Twitter account, Battlefield 2042 will release the Outbreak event starting on July 9.

The special event will include content and themes from Dead Space, EA’s popular sci-fi-themed horror game series. Based on the information given to us, the event will give players a way to escape a location that’s been taken over by Dead Space zombies. From its looks, the crossover looks absolutely phenomenal!

Dead Space coming to Battlefield 2042 makes quite a lot of sense in that both are EA-owned games. By playing the limited-game mode, players will be able to earn free rewards.
While it’s great to see more Battlefield 2042 content, fans quickly responded to the collaboration with more interest in a Dead Space 2 Remake or a fourth game.

One of the industry insiders, Jeff Grubb, revealed that the Dead Space 2 remake was canned during its concept phase due to poor sales of the first Dead Space remake. With another Dead Space game no longer on the cards, EA is now focusing its attention on other titles.
Currently, EA Motive is working on an Iron Man game and the next Battlefield title, alongside another slew of studios working on the Juggernaut project. It’s going to be a long while before we get another game in the Dead Space franchise.
