As we scoured the internet for the spoilers, One Piece Chapter 1189 picks up right after Imu’s brutal takedown of Luffy in Chapter 1188, and the earliest leaks suggest the World Government’s ruler isn’t done dismantling the Straw Hats’ resistance. Imu is reportedly summoning six of the nineteen swords once used by the First Twenty Kings who founded the World Government, including two weapons turned against Zoro and Sanji.
The chapter reportedly carries the title “King of the World,” and hints at a far larger cache of ancient relics than fans expected from the Void Century. Below is what the early leaks currently claim, with the usual caveat that none of it is chapter-confirmed until official release.

One Piece Chapter 1189: Imu’s Three Weapons From Void Century
Before things get grim, there’s a lighter cover page – Nami apparently laying into Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy after they’ve all been turned into monkeys, which is a nice bit of comic relief before the chapter goes dark fast. Once the story kicks back in, Imu doesn’t just stick with one weapon. He allegedly pulls out something called the “Sea God Sword” and buries it in Luffy right next to the blade already stuck in him from last chapter – and word is this new sword’s whole deal is shutting down Devil Fruit powers.
Then he hands Sommers a weapon nicknamed the “Sword of Wrath” to go after Zoro with, while Killingham reportedly gets something called the “Spear of Holy Command” to use on Sanji. None of these have shown up before, and if the leaks hold up, they’re just three pieces of a much bigger set – nineteen legendary swords total, sitting in Imu’s back pocket the whole time. Chapter ends when Imu is about to kill Luffy with the “Xingtian Axe”. But Gaban appears and blocks Imu’s attack.
Loki Remembers Shanks’ Warning About the King of the World

Amid all the sword-swinging, there’s a quieter moment that might end up mattering more. Loki apparently flashes back to a talk with Shanks from the day Harald died, where Shanks tells him flat out that the World Government’s been gearing up for a war, and that the real enemy waiting for Elbaph isn’t some admiral or the Gorosei member – it’s someone called the King of the World.
Given that’s also the chapter’s supposed title, this feels like Oda connecting dots he planted way earlier in the arc. It also means Shanks may have known exactly who Imu was long before anyone else got close to figuring it out. Meanwhile, Gunko’s ice is said to be thawing out, though she’s still not awake, and Usopp reportedly gets a bad feeling about Luffy strong enough to trigger his Observation Haki for the first time since Dressrosa.
Little character beats like these might not grab headlines the way a new sword does, but if the leaks are accurate, they’re doing a lot of the heavy lifting for where this arc is headed.
