Whitebeard was one of the best examples of pure battlefield aura in One Piece. Even after taking terrible injuries, he kept fighting and showed that scars and pain can make a legend even more powerful.
Now, apart from Whitebeard, Oda’s series is full of fighters who lost limbs, eyesight, or parts of their bodies and somehow became even more intimidating. These characters prove that in the One Piece world, scars often create legends instead of ending them. With that said, here’s our list.
7. Kid Turns His Missing Arm Into a Weapon

Kid earns the seventh spot because his missing arm became part of his fighting style instead of a weakness. After losing it during his clash with the Red-Haired Pirates, he rebuilt himself with scrap metal and pure stubbornness. That attitude perfectly matches the captain of the Kid Pirates.
His biggest aura moment came during the Wano Arc when he and Trafalgar Law defeated Big Mom. Watching Kid fire Damned Punk at an Emperor with a giant magnetic arm showed why he deserves this ranking, even if the fighters above him left an even bigger mark on history.
6. Shiki Turned His Missing Legs Into Part of His Legacy

Very few pirates would chop their legs themselves in order to escape Impel Down. However, Shiki did that and equipped himself with his swords Oto and Kogarashi and continued ruling the skies using the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi. This type of insanity cannot be overlooked.
His legend was already built during the Rocks era and his rivalry with Gol D. Roger, but his disability made his image even more unforgettable, which is why he ranks above Kid.
5. Crocodile Turned His Missing Hand Into Peak Villain Style

Crocodile never acted like losing a hand was a setback. The golden hook became part of his identity, giving him one of the coolest designs for villains in One Piece. Every time he walks into a room, he looks like someone already in control.
It was Marineford where his aura exploded. He challenged Whitebeard, attacked Akainu, and even clashed with Doflamingo without hesitation. It shows how his influence increased even after defeat; hence, he ranks above Shiki.
4. Kuzan Lost a Leg But Stayed Ice Cold

The ten-day battle between Kuzan and Akainu on Punk Hazard was one that changed the world, and the future for Kuzan. Losing a leg against Akainu would have ended most careers, yet Kuzan simply created a new one from ice and kept moving as if nothing had happened.
His fight with Monkey D. Garp on Hachinosu showed that he never lost his speed or power. The calm way Kuzan carries himself gives him an effortless aura that feels even scarier than Crocodile’s dramatic style.
3. Fujitora Proves He Never Needed His Eyes to Fight

Fujitora’s blindness was his own choice, making his story different from everyone else here. He rejected the cruelty of the world, yet became one of the strongest Admirals through incredible Observation Haki and the overwhelming gravity of the Zushi Zushi no Mi.
From Dressrosa onward, every meteor he summoned felt like a reminder that sight is not everything. Fujitora ranks above Kuzan because his disability became the foundation of a completely unique fighting philosophy instead of something he merely overcame.
2. Zoro’s Scarred Eye Only Made Him More Intimidating

Oda has never confirmed what happened to Zoro‘s left eye after the two-year training, but the mystery only adds to his presence. Ever since his return at Sabaody, the scar has become one of the most iconic designs in the series.
His King of Hell transformation during the Wano Arc pushed that aura even further. From blocking Ocean Sovereignty to defeating King, Zoro fights with the confidence of someone who never needs to explain his scars. He falls just short of first place because nobody controls a room quite like Shanks.

Shanks lost his left arm to save Luffy, but that sacrifice became the moment that changed the future Pirate King’s life. Instead of fading away, he rose to become one of the Four Emperors through Haki alone, proving that presence can be stronger than raw strength. Chapter 1190 of One Piece reminded fans of that again when Scopper Gaban sacrificed his arm against Imu in Elbaf to save Luffy.
Apart from that, Shanks‘ Haki forcing Greenbull to retreat near Wano and his one-shot Divine Departure against Kid are perfect examples of why he owns the top spot. Shanks does not need flashy powers or two arms to dominate the battlefield. His aura speaks long before his sword does.
