After Scarlett Johansson left the Marvel Cinematic Universe for good, her career has only gotten better and better with time. While she will always remain an integral part of the Avengers, it is evident that she is already onto bigger and better things, leaving her days as a superhero in the past.

Released in 2021, Black Widow was the last MCU project we saw Johansson in. Since then, she has been in a plethora of projects across genres. Whether it’s singing her way through Redshore City or taking a stroll with the Titanosauruses, Johansson has done it all.

Take a look at her career beyond Marvel:

Johansson also reprised the role of Ash in the 2024 short film, Sing: Thriller. Moreover, she made her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great, which was recently released on September 26. With a 66% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film was nominated for a Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival

For those who have gotten used to seeing Johansson on their screens, worry not, as the actress will be back with two more projects really soon. She is set to star in Brad Bird’s neo-noir sci-fi action comedy, Ray Gunn, an animated flick following the story of Raymund Gunn, the last human private detective in a world full of humans and aliens.

She will also star in James Gray’s crime drama, Paper Tiger, along with Adam Driver and Miles Teller. Now that’s a star cast worth tuning in for! The film tells the story of two brothers who become a part of a Russian mafia scheme. Clearly, Johansson knows how to choose her scripts.

Will Chris Evans Ever Escape the MCU?

We all love Chris Evans as Captain America, so much so that many still aren’t ready to accept the fact that the torch has been passed on to Anthony Mackie with the First Avenger taking a step back.

The last time we saw Evans in the role was in Avengers: Endgame, where he left everything behind to grow old with the love of his life. Since then, he has been in quite a few projects, more than Johansson, too.

However, the only difference between him and his former co-star is that fans are still expecting him to return to the MCU, one way or another. Wherever he goes, fans and interviewers have just one question: Is Chris Evans in Avengers: Doomsday?

Doesn’t matter how many times he denies his return; the speculations and theories keep coming with no end in sight. Then, of course, the expectations only grew when he came back to play Johnny Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine. With the multiverse at Marvel’s disposal, nothing is impossible, after all.

He has also had a couple of cameos in Free Guy and Don’t Look Up. Despite the extensive filmography post-Endgame, Evans has been unable to get rid of the MCU’s shadow. What can we say? People want their Cap back!

Inside Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans’ Sibling-Style Friendship

Keeping the directions their careers have taken aside, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson share a beautiful bond. In fact, even though the actress is younger in age, Evans has always looked up to her as an elder sister.

After Johansson was named as one of TIME‘s 100 most influential people of 2025, Evans penned a heartfelt letter for his fellow Avenger. He wrote, “Despite her being three years younger than me, I’ve always considered Scarlett Johansson my older sister.“

The two first met while filming The Perfect Score in 2002. As Evans recalled, “Even at 17, she had wisdom, talent, and grit beyond her years. I quickly revered her as any younger sibling would, with equal parts admiration and intimidation.” For context, Evans is 44 years old while Johansson is 41. Evans added that he learns from her, leans on her, and looks up to her, despite being older.

So far, Evans and Johansson have worked together in The Perfect Score, The Nanny Diaries, and, of course, the MCU films. Here’s hoping we see the duo reunite on-screen soon!
