5 ways james gunn has redeemed dc unlike zack snyder
Spread the love

Warner Bros. made the decision to reboot Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe and gift the audience the DC Universe instead. It is now James Gunn as well as Peter Safran who co-chair the latest DC Studios, with its latest outings, be they movies or TV Shows. With a lot of differences between the two franchises under the same production houses, these are the top five great things that Gunn has brought to the screens after the heavy reboot of DCEU.

It is to be noted that although new faces and entries have been welcomed, many of the old characters, including John Cena’s Peacemaker, are still in the DCU, being its canon entries. To get the big picture of the new and emerging DCU, here are five pointers that make DCU different from DCEU.

DCU Is More Fictional Than Zack Snyder’s Realistic Approach

The DC Universe has more of a fictional approach. Unlike Zack Snyder’s world, which spoke harsh truths and featured a Superman who fought epic battles, Gunn’s world has satire, but not too much. It is filled with a world that seems out of a comic book.

Moreover, it even feels like one day we will see Superman helping an old grandma to save her kitten stuck in a tree. This is what Superman in comics and cartoons did, and he not only had big enemies to face.

Besides this, the costume too has been worked on perfectly. Although many would make fun of the red underwear on the blue costume, it was always present on Superman’s suit, which somewhat made it iconic.

CGI In James Gunn’s DCU Is Much Better

Doomsday in BvS | Warner Bros. Pictures

Zack Snyder’s world was always dark, which sort of gave those working on CGI a tough time. If you remember, Doomsday was not that great in Batman Vs Superman. It did not feel as strong as it should have; the impact on Wonder Woman and Superman should have been even stronger.

Meanwhile, when we look at the big monster that David Corenswet’s Superman fights in James Gunn’s latest outing, it is not just big, but the details on its body are clearly visible, meaning the moment when Doomsday arrives in the DCU, he will surely shatter everything around him.

Maybe even defeat some of the biggest names from Detective Comics in no time.

DCU Gave Us Not One But Three Green Lanterns

Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern | DC Studios

Zack Snyder’s Justice League gave us the heroes we deserved. But DCU has already introduced us to some of the most important characters from the comics. Be it Green Lantern or Hawkgirl.

Moreover, we can hope for a Lanterns-focused outing that won’t just talk about Hal Jordan and John Stewart’s Green Lanterns but also Kilowog, Sinestro, and others. On the other hand, we have already been introduced to Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern in the movie Superman.

Looking at the development being done on the characters, it can be easily stated that some core members of the Justice League, including Mr. Terrific, will play a vital role in the future outings.

DCU Also Includes Elseworlds in the Storyline

An Elseworld exists in the DCU. If you’re surprised by what you’re reading, continue with what we have next for you. In the Elseworlds, the Batman is none other than one of the most brutal Versions of the Character, portrayed by Robert Pattinson.

Yes, Pattinson’s Batman will not be a part of the main DCU timeline. A Batman that exists in David Corenswet’s Superman’s world is yet to be announced.

Fortress of Solitude Is Back in James Gunn’s Superman

Fortress of Solitude in Superman | DC Studios

The Fortress of Solitude is one of the most important places in the story of Superman. It plays a crucial role as his farm in Smallville, Kansas. After all, the Fortress of Solitude is his real home.

What we saw in the DC Extended Universe’s Man of Steel was just a spaceship. Moreover, it lacked the robots as well as the huge and shiny ice slabs around it. We finally got to see that in James Gunn’s DCU.

If you are unaware, the Fortress of Solitude, covered with ice, was always present in the movies. Be it in 2006’s Superman Returns, 1978’s Superman: The Movie, or even in the latest adaptation.
