Assassination Classroom The Movie: Our Time is not a sequel. Instead, it revisits the final part of the story with new scenes adapted from manga chapters that were never animated in the original TV series.
The movie begins with only fifteen days left before Class 3-E reaches graduation and the deadline to assassinate Koro-sensei (it was one of the most tragic anime endings of all time). Knowing their time together is running out, the students gather in their classroom and begin talking about the memories they have shared over the past year.
They remember everything from swimming lessons and art class to Valentine’s Day and the many assassination attempts that slowly turned into unforgettable life lessons. Every memory reminds them how much they have changed since meeting Koro-sensei.
In the movie, several chapters that were not there in the anime, such as Chapter 23, 24, 37, 44, 45, and 158, and some bonus stories like Home Time, Pub Time, Identity Time, and Time to say Thank You, were included. This gives the audience an opportunity to enjoy more time with Class 3-E before the climactic end of the story.
One of the movie’s biggest additions takes place during winter break. Koro-sensei saves the life of a blind shop owner named Azusa and her daughter Hotaru from four assassins after they get into a dangerous situation. The incident once again showed how, even while being hunted himself, Koro-sensei cannot ignore someone who needs help. It is another reminder of the kindness that made him such an unforgettable teacher.
As the time of graduation comes closer, the mood becomes more emotional. The students understand that there is a mission to accomplish; however, they also realize that having to say farewell to Koro-sensei is going to be the most difficult aspect of the whole mission. This is also specifically why Koro-sensei had to die. The movie doesn’t try to rewrite his fate or offer a different ending. Instead, it shows that Koro-sensei accepts the mission’s outcome because he wants his students to move forward on their own.
Rather than running from the end, he spends his final days helping Class 3-E create memories they will carry for the rest of their lives. His death is presented not as a defeat, but as the final lesson of a teacher who always put his students before himself. All in all, the movie does not change the original ending of the anime. However, it adds to it by showing how significant Koro-sensei had become in the life of everyone in Class 3-E.
The Seven-Year Reunion Shows How Koro-sensei Changed Every Student
The movie then skips ahead seven years. The former students reunite at their old mountain classroom and look back on the year that changed their lives forever. They talk about the paths they have chosen as adults and remember the teacher who believed in them when almost no one else did.

Rather than focusing on sadness, the reunion celebrates how far everyone has come. Every success they achieve can be traced back to the confidence and determination Koro-sensei helped them build during their time together.
Nagisa’s future is perhaps the biggest example of Koro-sensei’s influence. Inspired by everything he learned, Nagisa becomes a teacher himself. Just like Koro-sensei, he wants to help students who struggle to believe in themselves.
This is also why the movie’s ending feels so powerful. Koro-sensei may no longer be with Class 3-E, but his influence never disappears. His greatest achievement was helping his students believe in themselves, and that lesson continues long after graduation.
Instead of changing the original ending, Our Time gives fans one more chance to appreciate Koro-sensei’s journey and the lasting impact he had on every member of Class 3-E.
