The 79th Tony Awards will honor the Broadway shows for outstanding acting, writing, direction, and design. For the awards, only plays and musicals that are produced in any of the 41 official Broadway venues are eligible. The awards are co-presented by the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League in New York City.
This year’s award season covers shows from early May 2025 to late April 2026. According to Broadway, the cut-off date for eligibility for this season was April 26, 2026. The nominations were announced on May 5, 2026. Several Hollywood actors have received nominations for their theater work.

The 79th annual Tony Awards function will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Radio City Music Hall, New York. The show will begin at 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time (ET) and is scheduled to run for three hours until 11:00 P.M. ET. The ceremony will be aired live during this time. Tony Awards 2026 Broadcast and Streaming Details

The three-hour Tony Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS from 8:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. ET. The ceremony will also be available on Paramount+. While the live airing of the show is only available for the premium-tier subscribers, the next-day on-demand streaming is available for both premium and essential-tier subscribers.
The live airing on CBS is also available through live TV streaming services like YouTube TV, Fubo TV, and Hulu + Live TV. The Tony Awards: Act One will air for free on the Live Music channel of Pluto TV from 6:35 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. ET.

Three-time Grammy winner P!NK is hosting the main ceremony of the 2026 Tony Awards. She is likely to put on a performance, resembling her concerts, where she flies around on ropes and cables. It is also possible that her theater kid, Willow, will make an appearance alongside the host. Tony winner Laura Benanti and Broadway icon Tituss Burgess are co-hosting the pre-show.
As for the performances, the opening number will feature 170 Broadway performers and is choreographed by Sarah O’Gleby and written by Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Mark Sonnenblick. Hollywood actors Rachel Zegler and Leslie Odom Jr. are also performing. Zegler will deliver a 50th anniversary tribute to A Chorus Line, while Odom Jr. will perform in the memoriam segment.
Chicago‘s 30th anniversary will be honored by a star-studded special performance, featuring Queen Latifah, P!NK, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Alex Newell, Adrienne Warren, Julianne Hough, Whitney Leavitt, and Dylan Mulvaney. The nominees for Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical will also put on performances.
Adrien Brody, Annette Bening, Ariana DeBose, Ben Platt, Billy Crystal, Bowen Yang, John Leguizamo, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Maya Rudolph, Megan Thee Stallion, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Scherzinger, Paul Rudd, Sting, and others will make appearances as presenters during this year’s Tony Awards.

The Isabelle Stevenson Award, which recognizes humanitarian work through art, will be awarded to Mary-Mitchell Campbell. 1/52 Project, Jake Bell, Kenn Lubin, and Loren Plotkin will receive 2026 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.
