Sons of the Forest has three possible endings, all determined by a final choice on the beach. To unlock any of them, you must first complete the main story.
Before the ending can be triggered, make sure you have completed the required steps: collect the keycards, reach the eastern bunker, open the Gold Arm Door, pass through the Golden Cube sequence, and wake up back on the shoreline with a helicopter waiting nearby and your backpack behind you.
From there, your final choice, along with how you treated your companions throughout the game, will determine which ending you receive in Sons of the Forest.
1. Bad Ending: Stay and Fight Demons

The bad ending is the one where you choose the forest over freedom. After the Golden Cube vision, you wake up on the beach with a helicopter waiting near the shore. While your backpack is lying further back in the sand.
To get the bad ending:
Complete all story objectives and finish the Golden Cube sequence.
On the beach, walk back to your backpack instead of heading to the helicopter.
Pick up the backpack.
The helicopter will take off without you.
Your character chooses to stay behind, and the chopper leaves with the other survivors. This way, you unlock the “Fight Demons” achievement. It is also the only ending that allows you to continue playing on the island with that save file after the credits roll.
2. Good Ending: Leave the Island

The standard good ending is almost identical to the bad ending until the final decision. This time, however, you choose rescue. You still complete the story, open the Gold Arm Door, survive the Golden Cube sequence, and wake up on the same beach with the helicopter in one direction and your backpack in the other.
To get the good ending:
Complete all story objectives and the Golden Cube sequence.
On the beach, ignore your backpack.
Walk straight to the helicopter and board it immediately.
If Kelvin is alive, he joins you on the helicopter. If he died earlier, it is just you and the other survivors leaving the island. This ending awards the “Fought Demons” achievement and shows your successful escape back to civilization.
Remember, you can’t continue on that exact save afterward. However, you will unlock Creative Mode from the main menu, allowing you to keep building and experimenting without the pressure of the story.
3. Secret/Best Ending: Keep Your Friends Close

The secret or best ending is a stricter version of the standard good ending. In this ending, everyone escapes together. To unlock it, you need to treat Kelvin and Virginia as true companions throughout your playthrough. Then, when you reach the finale, choose to leave the island.
There are a few major requirements for this ending. First, keep Kelvin alive from the beginning of the game; do not let him die in combat or from friendly fire. Second, fully befriend Virginia so that she becomes your companion, which includes giving her weapons and a GPS tracker.
To get the secret ending:
Keep both Kelvin and Virginia alive.
Bring both companions with you to the eastern bunker and the Gold Arm Door, or at least make sure they are alive and following you by the time you enter the final area.
Complete the Golden Cube sequence as usual.
After waking up on the beach, head straight to the helicopter without picking up your backpack.
If both companions are alive and loyal, they will join you in the final cutscene. All of you leave the island together, which unlocks the “Keep Your Friends Close” achievement. It is easily the most demanding ending to earn, but it is also the only one in which you save yourself, Kelvin, and Virginia in a single playthrough.
