The year 2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting time because of all the confirmed releases that will debut. While there are plenty of anticipated titles on the horizon, we’ve carefully narrowed the list down to ten standout games that everyone is eagerly waiting for.

Warner Bros. was critically known for the Batman: Arkham titles; however, it’s been missing for a while. Sure, there’s the Arkham Shadows VR title on Meta Quest 3, but it’s not the same. However, for those feeling the itch, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set for a 2026 release.
The best part about Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the fact that it’s taking on familiar grounds with a soulful, hilarious twist. Thus, we can all expect a completely brand new storyline which we’ve never seen before. On top of that, the upcoming title features multiple well-known characters from the Batman universe, making the experience even more exciting for longtime fans.
9. Fable

The Fable franchise has been long missing from the gaming scene, and it’s getting a reboot. Hate it or dig it, the upcoming game is moving on from the cartoony style, but it sure is refreshing to see. What truly sets this RPG apart, though, is its trademark humor, memorable characters, and choice-driven storytelling that allows your decisions to actively shape the narrative.
All of it was supposed to arrive in 2025; however, it got delayed, which made it more anticipated. The developers have stated that it’s planned for release in 2026, and for those who’ve missed the game for a long time, the next year is shaping up well.
8. Control Resonant

Control Resonant came as a surprise during The Game Awards 2025, and it caught many eyes within moments. However, this time around, we won’t be playing as Jesse Faden; instead, we’ll be taking on the paranormal world of Control as her brother, Dylan Faden, who was introduced as a villain in the first game.
What truly stood out in the reveal was the tease of hack-and-slash style combat built around a shapeshifting weapon, marking a noticeable shift from the original game’s approach. Also, we’ll be exploring paranormal events outside of The Oldest House, and give more insight into the weird world of Control. This also might tease what would happen in Control 2, which makes it more interesting.
7. Pragmata

Pragmata demo is already out, and it makes its upcoming full release even more exciting. The action-adventure game takes you to a lunar base full of sentient mechs trying to kill you, but you have an adorable android, Diana, to help you on your journey.
In the world of sequels, this is a completely new IP which makes the upcoming release so special. The game mixes hacking with a lot of shooting, which oddly fits together. In a way, the game gives Dead Space vibes and gives a modern sci-fi twist, which makes it all the more special.
6. The Blood of Dawnwalker

For Witcher and Vampire Bloodlines fans, The Blood of Dawnwalker is a boon coming from Rebel Wolves in 2026. The concept is simple: during the day, you’re just like a normal human being, while at night, you show your true colors as a vampire.
At its core, it’s an RPG, so you’ll be coming across various quests, and you’ll be tested thoroughly with each of them. Also, the game mixes some of gaming’s best game mechanics like teleportation, wall sliding, and much more. While many have called it a Witcher clone, the game does have its own charm, and many are excited to see what it’s all about.
5. 007: First Light

IO Interactive is popular for its Hitman games, but they are charting a new path in 2026. 007: First Light is introduced as a new James Bond game where you play as the iconic spy during his amateur days. But that’s not all, because the game takes place in the modern era, and everyone is expecting a fresh experience out of it.
The best part about the gameplay is how players have full freedom to choose a path of their liking and get through a level in their own way. Building on the studio’s refined design experience from the Hitman trilogy, 007: First Light promises a deeper, more flexible stealth-action experience, and it will be fascinating to see what IO Interactive has been crafting behind the scenes.
4. Marvel’s Wolverine

After hitting success with the Spider-Man franchise, Insomniac will be releasing Marvel’s Wolverine in Fall 2026. After swinging through buildings, we’ll get to slice through enemies while being our favorite mutant with indestructible claws.
Marvel’s Wolverine is said to feature a unique story set in the mutant world, with iconic character cameos like Mystique, Omega Red, and less explored Reavers. Knowing Insomniac’s performance with their Spider-Man games, the release of Marvel’s Wolverine is highly anticipated.
3. Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert was first revealed in 2019, and we finally have a proper release date set for March 19, 2026. This is a unique open-world action-adventure game that combines medieval fantasy with steampunk elements.
The most inviting feature about the game is the open-world exploration, as you can do anything as you please. Be it riding a dragon and skydiving with a magical cloak to save the day, Crimson Desert is meant to make you feel like a superhero. Getting a release is something many have been looking forward to, and it deserves the hype.
2. Resident Evil: Requiem
Finally, a horror worth enjoying. | Image Credit: Capcom
Resident Evil: Requiem was already hyped, and with the confirmation of Leon Kennedy’s return after years, no one can stand still. The gameplay features two types of gameplay, head-on action and survival horror, through two characters. This new direction seems interesting already.
Furthermore, players will be returning to iconic Raccoon City after years, which evokes nostalgia as well. If that isn’t enough, the game will also provide for both first-person and third-person gameplay, so you can enjoy it whichever way you prefer.

Of course, Rockstar Games is taking the crown in terms of anticipated games with GTA 6. The game was originally meant to release in 2025, but after a series of delays, the anticipation is at an all-time high. And why wouldn’t it be, because it’s been a long time since players have gotten a new GTA game.
We don’t know how the gameplay would be, but we’ll also visit modern-day Vice City, which many GTA fans hold close. With nostalgia and excitement around what’s next, this title has to be the most anticipated game of 2026.
