DOOM: The Dark Ages is the newest entry in the DOOM franchise of video games and represents a new chapter in the Doom Slayer’s saga. The game is developed by the one and only id Software, being published by Bethesda Softworks.
This is an Xbox game as well, being pushed forward by Microsoft. As such, there has been a special, commemorative release of a limited-edition controller for the same – with a similarly themed Xbox Series X/S to go with it.
DOOM The Dark Ages limited-edition Xbox Series X controller and console announced
As detailed within an approximately minute long video, DOOM: The Dark Ages comes to the Xbox Series X/S consoles with a new custom controller and console in tow. The console appears to be a Series X, and there do not appear to be any limited edition Series S variants available – at least as of the time of writing this article.

The Series X console appears to be wearing a skin of sorts, complete with a cracked stone visage with the Slayer’s logo plastered at the front in brilliant red. The power button (and Xbox logo) appear to keep the usual white color, which is quite the missed opportunity.
The console skin also appears to possess metallic edges, which is quite a nice touch.
Of course, no console is complete without its controller – and DOOM: The Dark Ages has two custom versions on sale.

The first is your Xbox Series Elite controller – which is expected to cost a lot more when compared to the other variant. This controller has a red motif with the Slayer’s logo plastered at the center. The black and red aesthetic also goes well with the modified buttons and analog sticks.
As this is an Elite controller, there should be some nice additions – such as extra back buttons as well as replaceable analog stick caps (sadly no hall effect sticks still).

The standard Series controller does look a fair bit more attractive though. The controller has been modified to match the Doom Slayer’s color scheme , in addition to having themed buttons, blood decals as well as a ribbed top.
Overall, the bundle does look quite nice, and is classified as a ‘limited edition’ item. As such, expect there to be limited stock available. Make sure to grab them at your earliest if you plan on collecting them.

DOOM: The Dark Ages launches on May 13, 2025
The Dark Ages is a prequel to DOOM (2016), and is a first person shooter set in the DOOM franchise of video games. Much like DOOM Eternal and DOOM (2016), the focus is on adrenaline-fuelled, fast-paced combat with a focus on speed and firepower.
It is the eight mainline entry in the series, and releases for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S simultaneously. The game is expected to cover the events prior to DOOM (2016), and as such will explore the Slayer’s origins, and how he came to be who he is today.
